JAAA addresses challenges leading to World Relays disappointment, blames withdrawals

In response to Jamaica’s underwhelming performance at the World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas, the Jamaica Athletic Administrative Association (JAAA) issued a statement attributing the team’s challenges to unforeseen circumstances, including athlete withdrawals and other hurdles leading up to the event.

Expressing solidarity with Jamaican track and field supporters, the JAAA acknowledged the disappointment surrounding the team’s showing at the World Relays and highlighted the obstacles encountered in the preparation process.

The JAAA outlined their standard procedure of confirming athlete availability before selection, with a specific deadline in place. Despite careful planning, the team faced significant withdrawals, compelling them to proceed with the available athletes.

June 30 deadline to secure their spot in Paris

While Jamaica managed to qualify all other teams for the Summer Games through second-round heats, the men’s 4x400m relay team is left with the task of achieving a fast enough time by the June 30 deadline to secure their spot in Paris.

Acknowledging unforeseen challenges that impacted their usual level of performance, the JAAA promised to provide further details once comprehensive reports from the management team, including medical and technical assessments, are received.

In conclusion, the JAAA extended congratulations to the athletes who represented Jamaica at the World Relays, recognizing their efforts amidst challenging circumstances and pledging transparency in the review process.
