In a stunning display of perimeter prowess, the Miami Heat secured a crucial Game 2 victory against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night, leveling the first-round playoff series at one game apiece.
Led by Tyler Herro’s 24 points and 14 assists, the Heat unleashed a franchise-record 23 3-pointers to dismantle the Celtics 111-101 and snatch away their home-court advantage.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra praised his team’s resilience, stating, “It was a very good response. And then we also made some shots. It always looks better when you make shots.” Bam Adebayo and Caleb Martin contributed 21 points each, further bolstering Miami’s offensive onslaught.
Offensive efficiency
Despite missing key player Jimmy Butler, the Heat maintained their offensive efficiency, shooting an impressive 53.5% from beyond the arc. This remarkable shooting performance shattered Miami’s previous playoff record of 20 3-pointers and showcased their ability to adapt and respond after a Game 1 114-94 blowout.
Reacting to the Heat’s sharpshooting display, Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla admitted, “They obviously made a conscious effort to have free reign to shoot more.” The Heat capitalized on this strategy, relentlessly launching 3-pointers and maintaining a comfortable lead throughout the game.
Although the Celtics made a late surge, Miami’s relentless shooting barrage proved insurmountable. As the series now shifts to Miami for Games 3 and 4, the Heat are poised to build on their momentum and capitalize on their newfound advantage.
