Trinidad and Tobago Red Force secure victory despite CCC’s valiant effort

In a gripping battle at the Frank Worrell Memorial Ground, Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) showcased resilience through fifties from Damel Evelyn, Shamarh Brooks, and Demario Richards but ultimately succumbed to a 123-run defeat against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in the West Indies Championship on the weekend.

Facing an improbable target of 449 runs on day four, CCC commenced their pursuit on 67 for one. However, despite commendable efforts from their batsmen, they were bundled out for 325 late in the final session.

Opener Damel Evelyn, who remained unbeaten on 43 overnight, top-scored with a composed 73, while Shamarh Brooks contributed a solid 62, and wicketkeeper Demario Richards showcased resilience with an unbeaten 66. The trio’s determined efforts provided CCC with a fighting chance but were ultimately in vain.

Trinidad and Tobago’s spin duo of Bryan Charles and Khary Pierre played pivotal roles in Red Force’s victory, with Charles claiming four crucial wickets for 46 runs and Pierre taking three for 90.

CCC faced consistent pressure from Red Force’s bowlers

Despite partnerships between Evelyn and Brooks and a defiant knock from Richards, CCC faced consistent pressure from Red Force’s bowlers. Romario Greaves provided a late surge with a quickfire 47, but CCC’s lower-order resistance was not enough to prevent defeat.

The loss marked CCC’s sixth consecutive defeat in a challenging season, leaving them winless thus far. In contrast, Trinidad and Tobago Red Force secured their third win of the campaign, maintaining their strong position in the championship standings.

While CCC displayed moments of resilience, Red Force’s all-round performance ensured their dominance, reaffirming their status as contenders in the West Indies Championship.
