In a tightly contested encounter, Trinidad and Tobago frustrated Canada in the first half, entering the break with a goalless scoreline. However, Cyle Larin broke the deadlock for Canada in the 61st minute, finishing off a slick passing move to slot the ball into the far corner.
Despite creating chances of their own, Trinidad and Tobago squandered golden opportunities to take the lead, with Levi Garcia and Andre Raymon missing narrowly. T&T’s profligacy proved costly as Jacob Shaffelburg sealed Canada’s victory in stoppage time with a thunderous left-footed volley.

Reflecting on the match, T&T head coach Angus Eve lamented the missed chances but praised his team’s performance against higher-ranked opponents. However, their efforts were not enough to secure a spot in the Copa America, leaving them disappointed after a period away from the top flight.
Canadian star Alphonso Davies acknowledged Trinidad and Tobago’s resilience, recognizing their competitive spirit throughout the match. Canada secured their place in the Copa America as the 15th of 16 teams, while T&T was left to rue their missed opportunities.
