After being put in to bat, Barbados got off to a shaky start, losing two early wickets. However, opener Trishan Holder’s masterful innings turned the tide as she smashed an unbeaten 68 runs off just 54 deliveries, anchoring Barbados to a competitive total of 123 for five in their allotted 20 overs.

Holder’s innings was adorned with eight fours and a six, providing the much-needed impetus to the innings. She found support from Aaliyah Alleyne, who contributed a valuable 28 runs. The partnership between Holder and Alleyne, worth 54 runs for the third wicket, revived Barbados’ innings after the initial setbacks.

In response, Windward Islands faced an uphill task chasing down the target set by Barbados. Despite a promising start, Windward Islands struggled to build substantial partnerships. West Indies leg-spinner Afy Fletcher showed resistance with a gritty knock of 28 runs, but lacked support from the other end.

Disciplined bowling effort

Windward Islands’ innings was dented by Barbados’ disciplined bowling effort, with Erin Deane and Aaliyah Alleyne leading the charge with two wickets each. Windward Islands eventually managed to score 104 for eight in their allotted 20 overs, falling short by 19 runs.

Barbados’ victory was a testament to their determination and fighting spirit, especially after their shock defeat in the opening round to Leeward Islands. The win marked Barbados’ first victory in the Women’s T20 Blaze tournament, providing them with a much-needed boost as they look to build momentum in the competition.

With their strong all-round performance, Barbados signaled their intent to defend their title and remain a force to be reckoned with in women’s T20 cricket.
