Jamaica clinches Women’s Super50 Cup title with Chinelle Henry’s hat-trick

In Basseterre, St. Kitts, Jamaica secured the Women’s Super50 Cup championship with a tense three-wicket victory over Windward Islands in the penultimate round of the tournament on Monday.

The match, held at St. Paul’s Sports Complex, saw Jamaica successfully chase down a target of 176 runs, reaching the milestone at the start of the 37th over.

West Indies batter Rashada Williams played a crucial role at the top of the order, scoring 72 runs off 101 balls to anchor Jamaica’s innings. Supported by Natasha McLean’s 50 and Chedean Nation’s 29, Jamaica remained unbeaten in the tournament with their fourth consecutive victory.

Windward Islands, batting first, posted a total of 175 for nine in 45 overs, with Pearl Etienne leading the charge with a notable 58 off 75 balls. The innings featured a final-over hat-trick from Jamaica’s Chinelle Henry, who ended with impressive figures of six for 31 with her medium pace.

Jamaica lost three wickets for 19 runs

Despite a challenging start for Jamaica, losing Keneshia Ferron early in the innings, Williams and Nation stabilized the run chase with a partnership of 46 runs for the second wicket. Williams then formed a crucial 93-run partnership with McLean, guiding Jamaica closer to the target.

The match turned tense as Jamaica lost three wickets for 19 runs, but they held their nerves to secure victory.

In other matches, Guyana defeated Trinidad and Tobago by 61 runs, with Shemaine Campbelle top-scoring with 52 runs, while Barbados chased down a challenging target of 256 to beat Leeward Islands by five wickets, led by Kyshona Knight’s unbeaten 88.
