Jamaican discus thrower Traves Smikle has kicked off the season on a high note, showcasing impressive form with two throws exceeding 67 meters.
His outstanding performances at the G C Foster Classic last Saturday, saw him achieve a season-best mark of 67.83 meters, following closely behind his 67.57 meters effort in February.
Smikle’s dominance in the event was evident as he outclassed former Calabar High School teammates Chad Wright and Fedrick Dacres, who threw distances of 64.77 meters and 64.37 meters, respectively.
Reflecting on his current form, Smikle attributed his success to consistent offseason training and conditioning. While acknowledging previous seasons where he achieved similar distances, Smikle expressed his determination to maintain competitiveness throughout the season.
