The United States Coast Guard’s Cutter Bernard C Webber on Monday repatriated 33 migrants to Haiti following an interception near Fort Pierce Inlet, Florida.
The US Coast Guard said that earlier this month, a good Samaritan notified Sector Miami watchstanders of a grounded fishing vessel.
Commitment to border security
Lieutenant Commander Sean Newmeyer reiterated the Coast Guard’s commitment to preventing unauthorized entry and illicit trafficking.
Collaborating with partners like the Homeland Security Task Force – Southeast, the Coast Guard maintains a constant presence in air and water to deter unlawful sea entries.
Ongoing efforts
The Coast Guard says its crews repatriated 53 migrants to Haiti in fiscal year 2024, which began on October 1, 2023.
