Jamaica: Seven prisoners on the run after escaping Oracabessa lockup 

Seven prisoners, facing charges ranging from rape to murder, managed to escape from the Oracabessa lockup in St. Mary, Jamaica this morning.

Reports are that the men were discovered missing from the Oracabessa Police Station during a routine cell check on Thursday morning.

The cell check was conducted at approximately 6 am, the police said.

Preliminary reports from the police are that the inmates escaped from custody by cutting through a ventilation grille.

The escapees, who were in custody for serious crimes, including murder and aggravated robbery, are now subjects of an intense manhunt.

  • Tray Walker (24 years old): A resident of Claremont, St. Ann, facing charges of rape.
  • Jahmala Vernon (25 years old): Hailing from Boscobel, St. Mary, accused of robbery.
  • Phillip Williams (22 years old): A Bellfield, St. Mary resident, charged with shooting with intent.
  • Linton Bailey (22 years old): A native of Jacks River, St. Mary, facing charges related to shooting incidents.
  • Lashawn Davidson (26 years old): From Jacks River, St. Mary, charged with involvement in shooting cases.
  • Nolando Akenson (21 years old): Residing in Pimento Walk, St. Ann, and facing robbery charges linked to Boscobel, St. Mary.
  • Gaveen Hurd (28 years old): Hailing from Stony Hill, St. Andrew, and Enfield, St. Mary, accused of murder.
