Jimmy Butler led the Miami Heat to victory with 36 points, 18 of which came in a decisive third quarter, as they defeated the Brooklyn Nets 122-115 on Thursday night.
This win marked the Heat’s seventh consecutive victory, making it the NBA’s current longest winning streak. Duncan Robinson contributed 26 points to the Heat’s success, and Bam Adebayo added 20.
On the opposing side, Mikal Bridges and Lonnie Walker IV each scored 23 points for the Brooklyn Nets, who had previously won their last five encounters with Miami. Nic Claxton and Cam Johnson both had strong performances, with Claxton going 7 for 7 from the field and scoring 16 points.
The victory was significant for the Heat as they had a challenging start to the season, losing to Brooklyn on November 1 and starting with a 1-4 record, the worst five-game start in Heat coach Erik Spoelstra’s 16 seasons. However, since that loss, the Heat hasn’t looked back and now holds an 8-4 record, which ties for the fourth-best 12-game start under Spoelstra.
