The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been actively coordinating with various agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in executing a series of removal flights.
These operations have resulted in the deportation of individuals and family units to a range of countries including Cuba, Haiti, and Jamaica.
A diverse range of nationalities affected
In a display of its extensive reach, ICE’s recent operations have not been limited to the Caribbean.
On Friday, ICE said that nationals from Angola, Central America, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela have also been part of the removal processes.
Staggering numbers: Removal statistics revealed
Reports are that since May 2023, ICE DHS has removed or returned more than 300,000 individuals, including more than 45,000 individual family unit members, to their respective countries.
“Individuals who lack a lawful basis to stay in the United States are ordered removed, consistent with US law,” ICE said. “All individuals who are removed have been screened for protection concerns.
“This policy applies to all noncitizens regardless of nationality to ensure the orderly and humane processing, transfer, and removal of single adults, family units and others determined to be removable,” it added.
Commitment to due process and judicial oversight
ICE said that noncitizens placed into removal proceedings receive their due process from immigration judges in the immigration courts, which are administered by the Justice Department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review.

Due to operational security reasons, ICE shared that it does not confirm or discuss future or pending transportation operations.
The agency utilizes both commercial airlines and chartered flights for the transfer and removal of noncitizens.
