Tourism Trinidad wraps up 2024-2025 cruise season with inaugural visit of the Odyssey

Tourism Trinidad officially closed the books on a dynamic 2024-2025 cruise season with a special finale: the inaugural visit of the Odyssey, a residential cruise vessel operated by Villa Vie Residences.

The ship docked at the Port of Port of Spain on Friday, April 11, marking not just the end of the season but also a step forward for Trinidad’s growing cruise tourism sector.

In keeping with maritime tradition, Tourism Trinidad and the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago hosted an executive delegation aboard the Odyssey for a ceremonial crest exchange and tour of the ship. The visit underscored Trinidad’s commitment to embracing new trends in the cruise industry — particularly the rise of residential cruising, which offers families, retirees, and professionals the chance to explore the world over a span of three and a half years, all while enjoying the comforts of home.

This season has been one of noticeable momentum for Destination Trinidad. Over the past months, the island welcomed:

  • 17 cruise calls in total
  • 8 inaugural calls
  • 2 new cruise lines
  • 17,317 cruise passengers

From large ocean liners to boutique ships, Trinidad demonstrated its versatility, offering something for every type of traveler — whether seeking adventure, cultural immersion, or pure relaxation.

A standout feature of this year’s success has been the Visitor Ambassador Programme, an initiative unique to the Caribbean. These trained customer service ambassadors provided cruise passengers with warm welcomes, personalized advice, and expert tips on what to explore, earning high praise from both visitors and industry partners. The program continues to be a shining example of the hospitality that makes Trinidad truly special.

Reflecting on the season’s success, Dahlia Zaida Z. Mohammed, Acting Manager of Research, Strategy, and Marketing at Tourism Trinidad Limited, said, “We at TTL are incredibly proud of the strides made in enhancing the visitor experience and elevating Trinidad’s standing as a premier cruise destination in the Caribbean. The arrival of the Odyssey is a fitting finale to a season that was defined by expansion and renewed partnerships.”

As Tourism Trinidad looks ahead to the 2025-2026 season, the organization remains focused on collaborative growth and keeping Destination Trinidad firmly on the global cruise tourism map.
