Jamaica’s sprinters will be on show on Friday at the National Stadium for today’s opening of the three-day CARIFTA Trials.
The athletes will seek spots on the team to the 50th CARIFTA Games to be held in the Bahamas, April 8-10. The finals will be run on Saturday.
The first round of the 100m in all four age groups, Under-17 and Under-20 male and female will be run Friday afternoon.
Jamaica’s Under-20 record holder Bouwahjgie Nkrumie of Kingston College and Under-20 defending champion Deandre Daley of Herbert Morrison will lead the men.
World Under-20 Championships relay gold medalists Tia Clayton and Serena Cole will headline the Girls Under-20 section.
On Friday, there will be finals in all four shot put events, both Under-20 long jumps and Under-17 high jumps along with the first rounds of the 400m and 1500m events.
