Broadbell’s powerful surge after the final barrier secured his third consecutive victory in Lausanne, as he crossed the line in 13.10 seconds, extending his dominance at the venue. Broadbell finished in 13.10 seconds, with Holloway close behind in 13.14 seconds. It was Holloway’s first defeat of the season in the event. Jamaica’s Hansle Parchment rounded out the top three with a time of 13.23 seconds.

The 24-year-old Broadbell, who won bronze at the Paris Olympic Games, showed his finishing speed after being in fourth place with less than two barriers to go. His victory marks the third consecutive year he has beaten Holloway in Lausanne, where he set his personal best of 12.99 seconds in 2022.

Undefeated in Lausanne

“It felt really great to win here again. I am undefeated in Lausanne. The atmosphere is always fantastic, and it is a pleasure to come here and put on a show,” Broadbell told the media after the race. Though he believed he could have gone faster, Broadbell expressed satisfaction with the win.

Elsewhere, Jamaican athletes had a strong showing at the meet, with five others securing top-three finishes. Rushell Clayton took second place in the women’s 400m hurdles, leading for most of the way before being overtaken by the Netherlands’ Femke Bol, who won in 52.25 seconds, breaking her own meet record. Clayton finished in 53.32 seconds, while fellow Jamaicans Janieve Russell and Andrenette Knight took third and fourth places, respectively.

Jamaica’s Tajay Gayle finished fourth with a jump of 7.92m, while Carey McLeod took seventh with 7.82m.

Ackera Nugent bounced back

In the women’s 100m hurdles, Ackera Nugent bounced back from her disappointment in Paris by finishing third with a time of 12.38 seconds, just behind Grace Stark of the United States, who was awarded the same time. Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico won the race in 12.35 seconds, matching her season’s best. Danielle Williams, another Jamaican competitor, finished fifth in 12.53 seconds.
