Racers Grand Prix returns to Kingston’s National Stadium on June 1

The prestigious Racers Grand Prix, a World Athletics Continental Tour Silver event, is set to take place on Saturday, June 1, at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.

This track and field event is known for showcasing some of Jamaica’s most decorated athletes and promises an exciting three-hour display of athletic excellence.

After a hiatus due to the pandemic, the Racers Grand Prix returns to its pride of place on the sporting calendar for the second year. CEO Devon Blake is committed to enhancing fan engagement for this year’s event and has introduced the option for track and field enthusiasts to sign up online for free tickets.

Racers Track Club members to watch

While the line-up for the 2024 meet is still under deliberation, Blake emphasized the Racers Track Club members to watch, including Oblique Seville, Antonio Watson, and Zharnel Hughes. These athletes are expected to deliver outstanding performances.

Chairman of the organizing committee, Glen Mills, expressed his excitement about facilitating the development of local talent at this year’s meet, especially considering that it is an Olympic year. The Racers Grand Prix provides Jamaican athletes with an opportunity to compete against the best in the world in front of their home fans and assess their progress in preparation for the Olympics.
