The squad comprises accomplished batsmen Keegan Petersen, Tony de Zorzi, and Zubayr Hamza, as well as seasoned fast bowlers Duanne Olivier, Dane Patterson, and Hardus Viljoen. Additionally, off-spinner Dane Piedt has been included in the roster. Neil Brand, a left-arm spinning all-rounder, will captain the squad, despite lacking Test experience.

Notable newcomers to the South Africa ‘A’ setup include the experienced first-class batsman David Bedingham, emerging batting sensation Ruan de Swardt, experienced wicketkeeper Clyde Fortuin, and the relatively inexperienced fast-bowling all-rounder Mihlali Mpongwana.

Coach Conrad Shukri explains significance of tour

Proteas red-ball Coach Shukri Conrad expressed the significance of this tour, stating, “This tour holds immense significance as it will afford players the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities as we prepare for the international season ahead and build depth within our red-ball pipeline.”

Conrad also elaborated on the squad selection process, emphasizing the inclusion of players with both international experience and impressive domestic performances in recent seasons. Neil Brand was chosen to lead the side due to his demonstrated toughness and resilience, in addition to his role as an opening batter.

The series against West Indies ‘A’ is slated to run from November 21 to December 8, with matches scheduled at Willowmoore Park in Benoni, Buffalo Park in East London, and Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.

Squad: Neil Brand (Captain), David Bedingham, Ruan de Swardt, Tony de Zorzi, Clyde Fortuin, Zubayr Hamza, Tshepo Moreki, Mihlali Mpongwana, Duanne Olivier, Dane Patterson, Keegan Petersen, Dane Piedt, Raynard van Tonder, Hardus Viljoen, Khaya Zondo.
