Mount Pleasant Academy winger Devonte Campbell has embarked on a two-week training stint with English League One club, Charlton Athletic Football Club.
This development marks the commencement of the “Mountain to Valley” partnership between the two clubs.
Campbell, who previously attended St. James High School before joining Mount Pleasant Academy at the age of 14, is now gaining valuable experience with Charlton Athletic. He made his way to Charlton Athletic on Friday, January 12, 2024, where he will undergo extensive training with the South-East London club.
Campbell’s journey from St. James High to Mount Pleasant Academy showcases his development as a footballer. He transitioned to the Mount Pleasant Premier League team in 2020, making notable contributions, including scoring goals. His progress led to a call-up to the National Senior Reggae Boys squad in 2021 for a friendly international match against Peru.
Expected to further enhance his skills and abilities
Having represented the national Under-20 and Under-23 teams, Campbell’s training experience with Charlton Athletic is expected to further enhance his skills and abilities.
The partnership between Mount Pleasant Academy and Charlton Athletic aims to provide opportunities for players to excel at local, national, and international levels, benefiting both clubs in the process.
Sporting Director Paul Christie expressed optimism about the collaboration, highlighting its potential to contribute to the success of the player and foster similar opportunities in the future.
