KC secures 35th Boys’ title, Edwin Allen emerges victorious in girls’ at Champs

In a thrilling culmination of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships, Edwin Allen High emerged victorious in the girls’ section, while Kingston College defended their boys’ title with an impressive display of talent and determination.

Kingston College (KC) clinched their 35th title in the boys’ section, further solidifying their legacy as a dominant force in Jamaican high school athletics.

“We fought hard for this victory, and it’s a testament to the dedication and hard work of our athletes,” said Coach Riley. With a commanding performance, KC amassed a staggering 335 points, showcasing their depth and skill across various events. “This win means everything to us. We trained tirelessly for this moment, and it’s a proud achievement,” expressed team captain, Marcus Brown. Despite fierce competition from Jamaica College, who amassed 278 points, KC remained unrivaled throughout the five days of intense competition.

Edwin Allen High reclaimed the girls’ Championships title, dethroning last year’s champion Hydel High, to secure their 10th title in a thrilling showdown. “This victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our athletes and coaching staff,” remarked Principal Johnson. With a total of 335.5 points, Edwin Allen displayed exceptional talent and teamwork, demonstrating their prowess in various track and field events.

Moment of immense pride

“We overcame many challenges to reclaim the title, and it’s a moment of immense pride for our school,” stated Coach Thompson. Despite a valiant effort from Hydel High, who amassed 326 points, Edwin Allen maintained their lead to emerge triumphant in the girls’ section.

The competition witnessed outstanding performances from athletes across various disciplines, highlighting the depth of talent and dedication among Jamaica’s young athletes. “This year’s championships showcased the incredible skill and determination of our student-athletes,” remarked ISSA President. Both Kingston College and Edwin Allen High showcased their commitment to excellence, earning well-deserved victories in their respective categories.
