Jimmy Butler delivered a stellar performance, scoring 31 points, to lead the Miami Heat to a much-needed 115-106 victory over the Sacramento Kings, ending their seven-game losing streak.
Butler shot an impressive 10 of 14 from the field and grabbed seven rebounds during the game. His exceptional contribution played a pivotal role in the Heat’s victory, which marked the end of their longest losing streak since the 2007-08 season when they dropped 15 straight games.
Josh Richardson also had a standout performance, hitting 6 of 10 from beyond the arc and finishing with a season-high 24 points. Bam Adebayo contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Tyler Herro added 14 points to round out Miami’s quartet of double-figure scorers.
After the game, Butler emphasized the importance of perspective, stating, “Just remember that we are very fortunate to have a job that we get to hoop, that we get to play before so many great fans. We lost control of that for a little bit, the sight that this isn’t as difficult. It could be a lot worse.”
1,500th regular-season victory
The Heat’s victory was marked by a season-high 38 assists, showcasing their teamwork and ball movement, and it also marked their 1,500th regular-season victory.
Miami coach Erik Spoelstra praised his team’s effort, saying, “The group poured a lot into the last 24 hours. Poured into this process, poured into each other, poured into the solutions. I commend the group because in this day and age and in pro sports, it is tough to do that.”
Despite Terry Rozier’s 10 assists for the Kings, his 1-of-8 shooting from the field limited his scoring impact.
Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis had an impressive performance with 19 points, 17 rebounds, and 13 assists, earning his 13th triple-double of the season. Keegan Murray led the Kings in scoring with 33 points.
Consecutive 3-pointers
The turning point of the game came with consecutive 3-pointers from Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler in the third quarter, putting the Heat ahead for good at 73-70. Josh Richardson’s fifth 3-pointer in the fourth quarter extended Miami’s lead to 106-93.
While Keegan Murray had a strong showing with 7-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc, the Kings struggled as a team, finishing 12 of 40 from long range.
The Heat had a commanding lead in the second quarter, going up by 18 points. However, the Kings closed the first half with a 24-10 run, cutting the deficit to four points at halftime, 59-55.
Miami’s Duncan Robinson was sidelined due to concussion protocol, but Josh Richardson’s extended minutes off the bench helped compensate for his absence.
The Kings will face the Indiana Pacers in their next game, while the Heat will visit the Washington Wizards, looking to build on their hard-fought victory. Both games are on Friday.
