Jamaica’s triple jump sensation, Jaydon Hibbert, has made the decision to conclude his studies at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in pursuit of a professional career.
The 19-year-old former Kingston College athlete expressed gratitude as he bids farewell to his NCAA eligibility.
Hibbert, who signed a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) agreement with global sports goods brand Puma in July last year, did not disclose the specific company he has joined but announced his transition to professional athletics. He expressed appreciation for the University of Arkansas for shaping his journey into a pro athlete.
Acknowledgment and gratitude
In an Instagram post, Hibbert thanked the University of Arkansas for the memories, lessons, and the Razorback spirit instilled in him by coaches, teammates, and professors. He expressed his commitment to carrying the Razorback spirit with him in his professional journey.
Despite spending only one season with Arkansas, where he maintained an undefeated record and achieved remarkable feats, Hibbert values the impact of the university on his development as an athlete and a person. He acknowledged the unforgettable moments, victories, camaraderie, and lessons learned during his collegiate journey.
Hibbert’s outstanding year culminated in him becoming the youngest recipient of Athletics’ most prestigious collegiate honor, The Bowerman Award. He swept the Southeastern Conference (SEC) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) triple jump titles and set a world Under-20 record in the triple jump.
