The Jamaica Scorpions asserted their dominance with a commanding ten-wicket victory over the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) in their 2024 West Indies Championship second-round clash at Sabina Park on Friday.
Starting the third day at 259-6, the Scorpions were bowled out for 331 in 91.2 overs, securing a lead of 24 runs over the CCC. Peat Salmon’s aggressive 45 off 44 balls, complemented by young Zishan Motara’s career-best figures of 7-108, set the stage for the Scorpions’ dominance.
Facing a modest deficit of 24 runs, the CCC faltered in their second innings, collapsing for just 87 runs in 30.4 overs. The Scorpions’ bowlers, led by Peat Salmon’s 4-12, Gordon Bryan’s 3-19, and Abhijai Mansingh’s 2-35, wreaked havoc on the opposition batting line-up.
Chasing a mere 64 runs for victory, Scorpions’ openers Chadwick Walton and Carlos Brown wasted no time, reaching the target in just 9.3 overs without losing a wicket. Walton’s unbeaten 46, following his impressive 163 in the first innings, along with Brown’s 19*, ensured a comfortable ten-wicket win for the Scorpions.
With this resounding victory, the Jamaica Scorpions marked a triumphant return to form in the West Indies Championship, showcasing their dominance on home turf at Sabina Park.
