In a dominating performance, the Indian hockey team trounced Jamaica 13-0 in their third and final pool match, securing their place in the quarter-finals of the FIH Hockey5s men’s World Cup.
Maninder Singh was the star of the match, scoring four goals for India. He found the back of the net twice in the second minute and added two more field goals in the 28th and 29th minutes. Manjeet and Raheel Mohammed each scored twice, in the 5th, 24th, 16th, and 27th minutes, respectively. Mandeep Mor also contributed with a brace in the 23rd and 27th minutes, while Uttam Singh (5th), Rajbhar Pawan (9th), and Gurjot Singh (14th) were the other goal scorers.
India began the onslaught from the very start of the match, with Maninder scoring two quick goals through precise shots. The team continued to apply relentless pressure on Jamaica’s defense, and within the first six minutes, India had established a commanding 4-0 lead, thanks to goals from Uttam and Manjeet.
India did not let up
Despite holding a substantial lead, India did not let up and continued their aggressive offensive strategy. Pawan and Gurjot took advantage of the opportunities, and at halftime, India was comfortably ahead with a 6-0 lead.
The second half mirrored the first, with India maintaining ball possession and an aggressive approach. This tactic paid off as Raheel, Mandeep, Manjeet, and Maninder combined to score numerous goals, sealing India’s dominant 13-0 victory.
India had previously defeated Switzerland but suffered a loss to Egypt in their opening two Pool B matches. However, their convincing win over Jamaica secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the FIH Hockey5s men’s World Cup.
