The 30-year-old forward, who is in the final six months of his existing deal, is currently free to engage in talks with other clubs. However, the talks with Fulham are reportedly amicable, although specific terms for extending his stay at the Premier League club have not yet been agreed upon.

De Cordova-Reid has expressed his desire to reach an agreement but acknowledges that these negotiations take time. Even if a deal is not finalized, he intends to remain with the club until the summer.

One of head coach Marco Silva’s ‘group captains’

De Cordova-Reid, who will turn 31 next month, initially joined Fulham in August 2019 on loan from Cardiff City, and his move became permanent in January 2020. The club exercised an option to extend his contract until the summer of 2024. During his tenure at Fulham, he has made 167 appearances and scored 26 goals, including four in the current Premier League season, with his most recent goal coming in a 2-1 victory over Arsenal last month. De Cordova-Reid has been a key figure, starting 14 of Fulham’s 27 games this season, including four of the last five matches.

The versatile player, known for his leadership qualities, is also one of head coach Marco Silva’s ‘group captains.’ De Cordova-Reid has expressed a positive relationship with Silva, stating that they get along well, and he appreciates the trust the manager places in him. He commends Silva for bringing success to Fulham, including their promotion as champions from the Championship in the 2021-22 season and their ability to remain in the Premier League.

While contract negotiations are ongoing, De Cordova-Reid’s immediate focus is on advancing to the final of the Carabao Cup. Fulham currently trails 2-1 going into the second leg of the semi-final against Liverpool, with the match set to take place on Wednesday.

De Cordova-Reid emphasized the importance of grinding out results and putting points on the board, especially given Fulham’s position in the Premier League standings, where they currently occupy 13th place with 24 points, six points above the relegation zone.
