Danielle Williams, a two-time world 100m hurdles champion and alumna of The Queen’s School, delivered a motivational address to students of her alma mater, recent;y, stressing the importance of taking education seriously.
Williams spoke during a devotion session, encouraging students to understand the significance of education as a key that can unlock numerous opportunities.
During her talk, Williams urged the students to have faith in God, recognize their talents, and remain confident that opportunities would arise to utilize their gifts. She emphasized the importance of glorifying God in all their endeavors, promoting kindness toward others, and adhering to a strong commitment to ethical conduct.
Pursuit of excellence does not allow for mediocrity
Williams also offered guidance to the students, advising them to cherish their time at The Queen’s School, build authentic friendships, believe in themselves, and set high standards for their lives. She reminded them that the pursuit of excellence does not allow for mediocrity and encouraged them to strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives.
Recognizing the challenges students may encounter, Williams shared words of resilience, acknowledging that people may underestimate them or attempt to limit their aspirations. However, she reassured the students that no one can obstruct the path of God’s blessings, and they should remain steadfast in pursuing their dreams.
Danielle Williams, who achieved victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, last summer, is set to receive an honor from her alma mater during the 22nd staging of the Queen’s/Grace Jackson Meet scheduled for January 27 at the National Stadium in Kingston.
