A major winter storm sweeping across much of the United States has caused multiple flight cancellations at Montego Bay’s Sangster International Airport (MBJ) and Kingston’s Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA), affecting travel for passengers arriving and departing this weekend.

The storm, which is impacting areas from the Southern Plains through the Midwest and into the Northeast, has brought snow, sleet, freezing rain, and dangerously cold temperatures. More than 180 million people across the U.S. are under winter weather alerts, and at least 18 states (including Delaware, Georgia, New Jersey, New York, and others) and Washington, D.C. have declared states of emergency. Forecasts suggest that snow totals could exceed a foot in some areas, with icy conditions creating hazardous roads, power outages, and significant travel disruptions.

MBJ confirmed the following cancellations for Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026:

  • United Airlines: UA 2126 arriving from Newark (EWR), UA 1206 departing to EWR

  • Delta Airlines: DL 1957 departing to JFK, DL 1890 arriving from Boston (BOS), DL 1899 departing to BOS, DL 1997 arriving from Atlanta (ATL), DL 1928 departing to ATL

  • American Airlines: AA 2943 arriving from Charlotte (CLT) and departing to CLT, AA 2939 arriving from Philadelphia (PHL), AA 2943 departing to PHL
