US Secretary of State congratulates The Bahamas on 52nd Independence

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday extended congratulations to The Bahamas as the country marked its 52nd anniversary of independence.

The Bahamas is celebrating its 52nd anniversary of independence today under the theme “Together We Rise”.

In a press statement released on July 10, Rubio praised the longstanding relationship between the two nations, noting shared priorities such as economic and security cooperation, the fight against transnational crime, and regional stability.

“On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the government and citizens of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas on the 52nd anniversary of their independence,” he said. “The bond between the United States and The Bahamas is built on mutual priorities, including economic and security cooperation, combatting transnational crime, and fostering regional stability.”

Rubio also reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to strengthening ties with Nassau: “On this important milestone, the United States celebrates the achievements of the Bahamian people and reaffirms our commitment to deepening the bonds between our nations. We look forward to continuing our work together to increase safety and prosperity in the Caribbean region.”
