The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) Homicide Bureau is leading the investigation into the shooting, which occurred shortly after 1:05 a.m. near NE 141st Street and NE 2nd Court. Deputies responding to reports of gunfire found three victims — an adult woman, a 12-year-old boy, and an 11-year-old girl — suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside a dark-colored SUV.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported all three to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Despite emergency efforts, the woman, believed to be in her mid-to-late 30s, died from her injuries. As of Saturday afternoon, the two children remained in critical condition.

According to MDSO, preliminary evidence suggests that several individuals approached the victims’ parked SUV and opened fire before fleeing the scene. A second vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting has also been recovered and towed for investigation.

MDSO Detective Angel Rodriguez described the incident as a “senseless act of violence,” adding that deputies have been canvassing the area and speaking with neighbors in hopes of identifying witnesses.

“[We’re] reaching out to residents in this area and basically talking to anyone willing to speak to them,” said Rodriguez. “They are comfortable and they believe that there’s at least several shooters involved.”

At this stage, detectives are working to determine the familial relationship between the woman and the two children. No arrests have been made, and investigators have yet to identify any suspects.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the shooting — including the identities or whereabouts of those involved — to contact Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477). Tipsters can remain anonymous.

The investigation remains ongoing.
