Sunrise to host annual Halloween-themed Trick or Trot 5K and Kids’ Dash on October 19

The City of Sunrise is gearing up for its 8th annual Halloween-themed Trick or Trot 5K and Kids’ Dash, scheduled for Saturday, October 19th at Markham Park, located at 16001 West State Road 84.

This family-friendly event is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, with participants encouraged to come in creative individual or group costumes.

Early registration is now open, offering a discounted rate of $15 per adult for those who sign up by Monday, September 20th. After October 1st, the 5K registration fee will increase to $30. Kids’ Dash registration is $10 for children aged 10 and under. Interested participants can register and find more details at sunrisefl.gov/5k. Space is limited, so early sign-ups are encouraged.

The 5K will kick off at 7:30 a.m., followed by the Kids’ Dash approximately 45 minutes later. Children will race in age groups: 3 and under, 4-5 years, 6-7 years, and 8-10 years.

All participants will receive a commemorative Trick or Trot medal and t-shirt. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Florida Chapter.

Advance packet pickup is scheduled for Thursday, October 17th, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Flamingo Park’s meeting hall, located at 12855 NW 8th Street.
