Commissioner Reyes, who passed away in April at the age of 80 following a battle with leukemia, was a beloved public servant known for his unwavering commitment to education, community development, and civic pride. The park’s transformation stands as a tribute to his enduring impact on the city he served.

“Commissioner Manolo Reyes devoted his life to improving the lives of Miamians, and this park embodies that same spirit of service, health, and family,” said Mayor Suarez.“It’s more than a renovation—it’s a reflection of his vision for a stronger, more connected community.”

The grand opening will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a tribute to Commissioner Reyes’ life, and a host of family-friendly festivities including games, food, and music. Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the new amenities and celebrate the neighborhood’s revitalized green space.

New features at Manolo Reyes Park include:

  • A brand-new swimming pool and pool building
  • A children’s splash pad with interactive spray elements
  • Artificial turf multi-use sports field
  • Walking trail and outdoor fitness equipment
  • Two tennis courts, two basketball courts, and two pickleball courts
  • A paved entry plaza with an upgraded service entrance
  • Landscaping and irrigation enhancements
  • A lightning warning system for public safety
  • Public art installations reflecting local culture and creativity

Residents from across the city are invited to join in this celebration of legacy, community, and renewal. The newly named Manolo Reyes Park promises to be a lasting space for recreation, connection, and reflection—built in honor of a man who gave so much to the people of Miami.
