Miami-Dade to host Veterans Stand Down to honor and support America’s heroes

MIAMI-DADE – Vice Chairman Anthony Rodriguez says he is proud to announce the second annual Veterans’ Stand Down, an initiative dedicated to celebrating and supporting America’s veterans and active-duty military personnel. The event will take place on November 1, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo Center, Fuchs Pavilion, located at 10901 SW 24th St., Miami, FL 33165.

Stand Down is a free public event featuring an exciting obstacle course for high school juniors and seniors, JROTC, and Senior ROTC, presented by various military branches. Homeless veterans will have access to complimentary haircuts, showers, and meals, while veteran families can connect with over 80 state, county, and private agencies. The event will also include a full county circuit court where judges will hear cases. Attendees can enjoy music, food trucks, and military vehicle exhibits.

Aiming to foster a sense of community, Stand Down offers over 80 resources and services for veterans, active personnel, their families, and the general public. Key organizations, including the DMV, Social Security Administration, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Florida Department of Children and Families, and the U.S. Department of Defense, will be providing essential services.
