Miami-Dade County celebrate the Haley Sofge Preservation Grand Opening

On Friday, Augst 30th, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County District 5 Commissioner Eileen Higgins will join multifamily developer Related Group at the grand opening of the Haley Sofge Apartments. The Haley Sofge Preservation is the substantial rehabilitation of the Haley Sofge public housing building located at 800 NW 13th Avenue, across from the Marlins stadium.

Originally built in 1973 as a 240-unit, 13-story building, Haley Sofge 800 has been fully renovated and will continue to serve low-income older adults. The rehabilitation scope of work included interior demolition of units, installation of impact-resistant windows, and new plumbing and electrical systems. The newly renovated units will also include new kitchens with modern appliances, bathrooms, as well as a new roof, security system, landscaping, and other amenities. Ground-level amenities include a multipurpose room, fitness center, computer lab, central laundry facility, beauty salon, and a domino table game room. Originally constructed without central air conditioning and later retrofitted with portable units, the building now offers central air conditioning as part of its renovation. The renovation project has received an emerald certification from the National Green Building Standard.

The total development costs for the preservation of Haley Sofge amounted to $95.2 million, of which Miami-Dade awarded $24.3 million as a purchase money mortgage, representing seller financing for the value of the improvements.

This milestone commemorates the completion of the sixth phase of the ambitious River Parc master plan, one of Miami-Dade County’s largest mixed-income redevelopments. Upon completion of the 10 phases in 2027, the community will span over 2,500 units of affordable, workforce and market-rate apartments.
