The first back to school event will be held on Saturday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until supplies last, at Oak Grove Park, 690 NE 159th St., Miami, FL 33162. Backpacks and school supplies will be provided to students to prepare them for the upcoming school year.

The second back to school event, Community Connection Day, will be held on Sunday, August 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Gwen Cherry Park, 7090 NW 22nd Ave., Miami, FL 33147. Commissioner Bastien, in partnership with the Northside District’s Neighborhood Resource Unit and the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD), will provide students with backpacks and school supplies, until supplies last, for the upcoming school year. Residents will also have the opportunity to meet command staff and neighborhood police officers while enjoying free food, games, bike safety tutorials, and more.

Bastien says these back to school events are part of her commitment to supporting education and the residents of her district. This generous initiative ensures that every child will have the necessary tools to thrive during the upcoming academic year.
