Hollywood Police Lieutenant placed on leave after allegedly shoving elderly woman

Hollywood Police Lieutenant

A lieutenant with the Hollywood Police Department was arrested Monday on two counts of domestic battery involving a person 65 years of age or older, authorities confirmed.

Osvaldo Perez, 50, a 25-year veteran of the department who lives in Southwest Ranches, allegedly “grabbed and pushed” a 65-year-old woman into a parked vehicle on Sunday near the 4300 block of Southwest 148th Terrace in Miramar, causing her to fall and fracture her shoulder.

Perez turned himself in to the Broward Sheriff’s Office without incident and was being held Wednesday at the Broward Main Jail on a $75,000 bond, according to jail records. He has since bonded out.

Hollywood Police Chief Jeff Devlin emphasized that the department is taking the allegations seriously. “Lt. Perez has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation,” Devlin said in a statement.

Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances of the arrest, and the investigation remains ongoing.
