Free pet adoptions in Broward County during Clear the Shelters Month

Miami-Dade County Animal Services participates in 10th annual Clear The Shelters campaign

Broward County Animal Care is waiving adoption fees throughout August as part of NBCUniversal’s nationwide Clear the Shelters campaign, now in its 11th year.

Halfway through the month-long initiative, the shelter has already placed 175 pets in new homes, including 130 cats and 45 dogs. Many more animals remain available for adoption.

All adopted pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Standard county pet registration fees still apply. View adoptable pets here.

“We are committed to building a more humane community—one adoption at a time,” said Doug Brightwell, Director of Broward County Animal Care. “Every pet that leaves our shelter opens a space for the next life in need. The Clear the Shelters campaign allows our community to make an immediate and lasting impact.”

Since its launch in 2015, Clear the Shelters has helped more than 1.2 million animals find permanent homes through adoption and fundraising drives. Broward County Animal Care is one of hundreds of shelters across the country participating in this year’s effort.

The campaign reflects the agency’s broader mission to reduce pet overpopulation, encourage responsible pet ownership, and ensure every animal has a second chance.
