Bicyclist killed after being struck by car in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police in Broward County are investigating a fatal crash involving a bicyclist that occurred on Tuesday evening around 7:15 p.m. The incident took place along the 5400 block of Northwest Ninth Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. Officers responded to reports of a car striking a person on a bicycle. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not released further details about the incident at this time.

Crews from Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived at the scene following the crash. Authorities confirmed that the bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained at the location after the incident. Police have not yet disclosed whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash, nor have they announced if the driver will face any charges. The investigation is ongoing.
