BCPS partners with Blue Spear Solutions to strengthen school safety

Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) has announced a groundbreaking three-year partnership with Blue Spear Solutions to provide online Bleeding Control Training to all district employees—at no cost to the District.

The initiative is aimed at bolstering emergency preparedness across the District and empowering more than 33,000 educators, administrators, and support staff to respond effectively in crisis situations.

The training aligns with the nationally recognized Stop the Bleed campaign, launched by the American College of Surgeons, and focuses on teaching individuals how to recognize and respond to life-threatening bleeding—skills that could prove critical in emergencies before first responders arrive.

“We appreciate the partnership with Blue Spear Solutions that is bringing this essential, life-saving training to all of our employees,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. “Ensuring everyone knows the proper way to use the critical tools contained in the kits can help save lives in an emergency.”

BCPS schools and departments are already equipped with Stop the Bleed kits. This training initiative ensures that employees are prepared to use them effectively—reinforcing the idea that bystanders can often be the first line of response in the moments that matter most.

The hour-long online course includes instructor-led videos, interactive quizzes, and voice-over presentations across multiple modules. The content is designed to help staff members confidently apply bleeding control techniques in various settings—from classrooms and cafeterias to sports fields.

The program is made possible through support from a coalition of partners, including AutoNation, CENTEGIX, SaferWatch, Lipton Toyota, Vaughn Sports Academy, Raptor Technologies, and Hudson Capital Group.

With this multi-year initiative, BCPS continues to lead by example in prioritizing school safety and equipping staff with the tools and knowledge to protect students and one another in emergencies.
