Nomination Day marks a key step in the lead-up to the General and Regional Elections, slated for September 1, 2025, as political parties formally submit their lists of candidates. GECOM says it is coordinating all logistical and procedural elements to ensure the process is conducted smoothly, transparently, and in line with established legal and electoral guidelines.

As stated in a General Notice issued on June 22, all parties intending to contest the elections are urged to submit their nomination lists during the designated time frame. The Chief Election Officer will be present at the venue to receive submissions, verify documentation, and provide guidance if clarification is needed.

Once a complete nomination package is submitted, GECOM will issue an official acknowledgment. The process will be managed in the order of arrival and in accordance with strict document verification protocols. Stakeholders are asked to respect the procedures and contribute to a peaceful and orderly process.

GECOM emphasized its commitment to providing a structured and respectful environment that facilitates the fair participation of all political parties. The Commission also urged all participants and supporters to uphold the values of democracy and contribute to a dignified atmosphere on the day.

Members of the media are invited to cover the event as part of GECOM’s ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and public accountability.

For additional information, political parties and the public are encouraged to contact the GECOM Secretariat or visit the official website at www.gecom.org.gy.
