Co-chaired by St. Kitts and Nevis Foreign Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas and Colombia’s Foreign Minister Laura Sarabia Torres, this marks the first CARICOM group meeting with Sarabia Torres since she took office in January.

The gathering is part of a broader series of high-level diplomatic engagements in Colombia this week, including the 30th Ordinary Meeting of the ACS Ministerial Council on May 29 and the 10th ACS Summit of Heads of State and Government in Montería on May 30.

Foreign ministers are expected to explore ways to boost political, economic, and cultural cooperation, especially in light of ongoing global uncertainty. CARICOM is also expected to encourage Colombia, as the current chair of the ACS Ministerial Council and president pro tempore of CELAC, to continue championing the interests of small and vulnerable states.

Previous CARICOM-Colombia meetings have focused on areas such as trade, disaster risk management, education, and climate resilience, with joint commissions advancing cooperation in culture, sports, and technical exchange.
