The Caribbean is spoiled for world-class beaches and water attractions, with many countries laying claim to multiple of both. The scenic coasts, lakes, rivers, and waterfalls of the region are some of the main driving factors for tourism… Who doesn’t see themselves lounging in the shade to the soothing sounds of saltwater lapping at the shore?
But the question as to which Caribbean island is home to the bluest waters is tricky. Beaches are a point of pride for many Caribbean nationals who would all stake a claim for their beach having the most pristine, bluest water.
The Bahamas
Apologies in advance to every other island, but according to several sources, the prize for the bluest water in the Caribbean goes to the Bahamas. Here’s why… The waters around the Bahamas are the closest we can get to an objective answer for “bluest water,” as the color is so pronounced you can pick out the graduation of blue from space, via satellite imagery.
Exuma, specifically
Specifically, the bluest waters of the Caribbean is said to be at Tropic of Cancer Beach on the island of Exuma in the Bahamas. Its long sweeping sandbar is flanked by an eager shoreline expressing every gradient of blue. On a clear day at this Exuma beach, it looks like the sea flows into the sky. It is so picturesque that the first Pirates of the Caribbean film was shot there.
