A 61-year-old man, initially admitted to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in St Vincent for stab wounds, was found dead just outside the medical facility after opting for self-discharge.
The incident has raised questions about the circumstances surrounding his injuries and the subsequent events leading to his tragic demise.
Discovery of the deceased
Reports are that on Sunday, law enforcement authorities were alerted to the presence of an unresponsive man, positioned near the Central Medical Stores Building adjacent to the hospital premises.
Admission at hospital
Media accounts reveal that the victim had sustained a severe stab wound to the abdomen approximately two weeks before his death.
However, this violent assault had never been officially reported to the police.
Last Wednesday, the injured man sought medical attention and was admitted to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.
Reports are that on Friday, he discharged himself from the medical facility, leaving behind the IV lines.
