In a recent address to supporters in Hanover, Prime Minister Andrew Holness emphasized the positive trajectory of Jamaica’s economy, attributing this success to the initiatives of the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).
Amidst a climate of political debate, Holness refuted allegations from the opposition People’s National Party (PNP) suggesting that the country is veering off course.
The JLP’s vision for progress
The leader of the JLP showcased the effectiveness of his administration’s policies, encouraging party supporters to unite in support of the party’s agenda.
With a focus on economic indicators, the Prime Minister’s message was clear that the current government’s strategies are fostering growth and prosperity for Jamaica.
Rallying support amidst election upcoming election
As the local government election draws near, scheduled for February 26, Prime Minister Holness has been actively campaigning across the island.
His efforts aim to solidify the JLP’s position in what is shaping up to be a fiercely competitive electoral battle.
Through his relentless engagement with the electorate, Holness seeks to ensure that his party retains its influence in shaping the nation’s future.
A total of 499 candidates will compete in the upcoming Jamaica local government elections scheduled for Monday, February 26.
The candidates were nominated earlier this month, on February 8.
Among them, 496 candidates are vying for seats across the 228 electoral divisions throughout the island, while three candidates are running for the position of Mayor in the Portmore Municipality.
Both the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and the People’s National Party (PNP) have put forward a full slate of candidates to compete in the electoral divisions and the mayoral election in Portmore.
Additionally, four candidates have been nominated to represent the United Independents’ Congress (UIC).
