St. Maarten’s main political party, the National Alliance, emerged victorious in the recent parliamentary election.

Preliminary results show that the party, led by Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs, secured four out of fifteen seats.
Competition with United People’s Party
The United People’s Party won three seats in the election.
Several smaller parties also secured seats.
More than 120 candidates from eight parties had vied for a seat in the unicameral Parliament.
Voter turnout
With a voter turnout of 65 per cent, this election saw active participation, with over 22,500 registered voters and approximately 14,600 votes cast.
