Jamaica’s new Commissioner of Police pledges to enhance JCF efficiency

Dr. Kevin Blake took the helm as the new Commissioner of Police in Jamaica, officially assuming the position in a Change of Command ceremony held at the Office of the Police Commissioner in St Andrew.

Dr. Blake shared his vision for the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), emphasizing a commitment to enhancing efficiency and fostering trust within Jamaican communities. 

He pledged to uphold the duty of the Force to serve and protect the lawful majority, stressing the importance of winning the hearts and minds of Jamaicans.

Unprecedented initiatives for community engagement

Under his leadership, Dr. Blake announced plans for unprecedented programs aimed at engaging communities across Jamaica. 

These initiatives seek to restore the JCFs reputation as the rightful legal guardians of the nation, providing reliable security services that resonate with the populace.

Zero tolerance for criminal activity

Addressing the pressing issue of crime, Dr. Blake affirmed a zero-tolerance stance toward criminal elements.

He vowed to isolate and disrupt criminal gangs, pursue and apprehend offenders, and build strong cases for their convictions. 

His resolve echoed a commitment to safeguarding Jamaica’s peace and security against internal threats.

Protecting Jamaica’s identity and people

Highlighting Jamaica’s status as a vibrant tourist destination with warm and hospitable citizens, Dr. Blake underscored the imperative of ensuring a safe and secure society free from fear and violence.

He emphasized the nations collective responsibility to protect its identity and people, reiterating the need for a responsive and modern police force.

A call to excellence

Acknowledging the dedication and sacrifice of the men and women of the JCF, Dr. Blake expressed his readiness to lead the Force to new heights. 

Drawing on his career experience and deep-rooted love for his country, he assumed the role of chief constable for all Jamaicans, pledging to bring his intellect, training, and emotional intelligence to bear in advancing the JCF’s mission.

Gratitude and wisdom

In a gesture of appreciation, Dr. Blake extended heartfelt thanks to Major General Antony Anderson for his leadership of the JCF over the past six years. 

Major General Anderson, in turn, offered congratulations and counsel, urging Dr. Blake to exercise his authority with wisdom, tenacity, and compassion as he steers the Force toward continued excellence.
