This joint operation, dubbed “Eyes in the Sky,” harnesses the power of drones under the oversight of the Guyana Defence Force to conduct surveillance across various areas in Georgetown.

Surveillance reinforcement

Under the banner of “Eyes in the Sky,” the operation is slated to span a month, utilizing low-flying drones for surveillance purposes.

Authorities emphasize that these drones are manned by the Guyana Defence Force and assure citizens that their presence should not incite alarm.

Enhanced security measures

In conjunction with aerial surveillance, the operation promises heightened police presence throughout Georgetown.

This augmentation encompasses an array of tactics, including the establishment of additional roadblocks, intensified stop-and-search procedures, enhanced traffic enforcement, expanded roving patrols, and targeted raids.

Multi-pronged approach

Beyond aerial surveillance and increased police visibility, the operation encompasses various initiatives aimed at curbing criminal activities and bolstering roadway safety.

Motorcycle and bicycle campaigns, roadblock operations, cordons and searches, and the execution of warrants are among the strategies outlined to reinforce security efforts.

Call for public support

Authorities have issued a plea for the cooperation and support of the public throughout the joint operation.
