CARICOM applauds installation of Haiti’s Transitional Presidential Council

In a significant development for Haiti’s political landscape, the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) have embraced the formal installation of the Transitional Presidential Council.

The nine-member Council took its seat at the historic Palais National on Thursday, marking a milestone achieved through a process led by Haitians and aimed at the country’s best interests.

A step forward amidst crisis

CARICOM emphasized the importance of this event as a critical step towards addressing Haiti’s prolonged multidimensional crisis. 

The installation signifies a pivotal moment for both the Council and the Haitian populace, offering a glimmer of hope for a return to constitutional governance, stability, and sustained development.

“This is an opportunity to craft a new beginning which will give all Haitians renewed hope for a return to constitutional government, stability and sustained development,” stated CARICOM in its official communication. 

Challenges ahead

While acknowledging the significance of Thursday’s installation, CARICOM Heads of Government remain cognizant of the arduous journey ahead.
