The Bermuda police say they have dismantled the activities of a drug-trafficking ring after seizing drugs, cash, dogs and arresting seven people in raids on two houses in Devonshire and Smith’s parishes.
Officers also took a hydroponics system used to grow cannabis indoors.
Warrants were executed on February 7 by the police narcotics unit along with the criminal investigation unit, financial crimes unit and tactical division, the Bermuda Police Service revealed on Wednesday.
The raids netted more than US$85,000 in cash packaged with the suspected drugs cocaine and cannabis with an estimated street value of $30,000.
Animal wardens helped police remove four dogs from one of the properties.
“This operation has disrupted and dismantled the drug-trafficking and money-laundering activities of a drug-trafficking ring here in Bermuda,” said acting Detective Superintendent Sherwin Joseph.
“Chemicals used in the illegal cannabis operation were also seized and will be further analyzed by our government analysts. The investigation is at a critical stage and no further information will be provided at this time,” said Joseph, who heads the crime division.
