Antigua and Barbuda’s PM to visit UNESCO on Wednesday

The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, the Honorable Gaston Browne, is slated to conduct an official visit to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on Wednesday, July 19th.

The visit is arranged in collaboration with the Director-General of UNESCO, Ms. Audrey Azoulay.

Topics on the meeting’s agenda

Discussions on the meeting’s agenda is the prioritization of oceans and environmental protection, viewed as a collective cultural inheritance of humanity. 

The dialogue will also emphasize the significance of fostering exchanges and strategic partnerships among nations for education, with a special focus on international student exchange programs.

Moreover, the accessibility and enhancement of information technologies, particularly connectivity options, will be discussed. These technologies are perceived as crucial cultural and educational avenues, particularly for states that are developing or possess unique geographical attributes such as small land area or island status.

The leaders will also deliberate on the prospect of setting up a delegation from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States as an observer for Antigua and Barbuda to UNESCO.
