The two Rastafari artists crossed paths in Oakland, California, a city with a rich history of revolutionary movements, including the Black Panthers. This chance meeting sparked a creative partnership, with Ras Ceylon bringing his unique perspective as a rapper of Sri Lankan descent to the table.
Tuff Like Iron explains how “Everyday” came to life: “Ras Ceylon reached out and said he wanted to collaborate—he had this fire reggae/hip-hop crossover beat. So this track came together easily because we just spoke from the heart, fueled by our love for the people.”
