The ‘New Cool Ruler’ is heading to Montego Bay for his first performance on Jamaican soil. With his striking resemblance, effortless style, and magnetic charisma, British-born reggae singer Terence Wallen—son of Jamaican parents—doesn’t just perform Gregory Isaacs’ music; he channels the Cool Ruler’s very soul. Audiences worldwide leave his shows convinced they’ve witnessed the late icon in the flesh.

On Saturday, July 19, Wallen will fulfill a lifelong dream when he graces the Reggae Sumfest stage in Montego Bay. He will headline a powerful tribute segment titled “Tribute to The Legend,” honoring Isaacs with a performance that promises to be both electrifying and emotional. The evening will also feature tributes from Tarrus Riley—celebrating his father Jimmy Riley—Cocoa Tea, and Chester Miller, who will pay homage to the Crowned Prince of Reggae, Dennis Brown.

“Fans can expect a great show,” Wallen confidently declared.

“I’m honored to be performing with Lloyd Parks & We the People Band and the great Dean Fraser. These are legends in reggae. I’m beyond excited. When I go out there, I’m going to make England proud. I’m going to make Jamaica proud—especially Clarendon, where my mother and father were born. And most of all, I’m going to give Gregory’s fans a moment they’ll never forget.”

Before his Sumfest appearance was confirmed, festival executive Robert Livingston flew to the UK to see Wallen’s performance in The Cool Ruler – The Musical, a stage production honoring Isaacs’ legacy. The musical was endorsed by Isaacs’ wife June and his former tour manager Copeland Forbes, who attended the UK performances.

“Terence ripped up the UK a few weeks ago with three sold-out theatre dates,” said Reggae Sumfest CEO Joe Bogdanovich. “This is an important and exciting addition to our Saturday night lineup.”

Wallen’s Sumfest debut follows the massive success of The Cool Ruler – The Musical, a vibrant stage show celebrating Isaacs’ life and timeless music. Directed by Anthon Phillips and supported by the acclaimed Delroy Murray Band, the production toured the UK to packed venues in honor of Isaacs’ 75th birthday. Wallen’s encyclopedic knowledge of the singer’s catalog—combined with his emotive vocals and commanding stage presence—made the performance a standout cultural tribute.

Recently, Wallen has thrilled audiences in Jersey and completed a successful West African tour with stops in Senegal and The Gambia, where he received glowing coverage from publications such as The Standard and The Alkamba Times. Next on his tour schedule: Brazil, Europe, and major diaspora hubs across North America including New York, Atlanta, Miami, and Washington, D.C.

In 2024, Wallen’s breakout year was cemented with the GX Awards’ Best Newcomer honor. His fanbase continues to grow rapidly, drawn by his authenticity, commitment to the genre, and undeniable talent.

But music is just one facet of Wallen’s identity. He is also an accomplished author and motivational speaker. His book titled ‘The 90 Day Truth Planner’ —has gained international acclaim, earning him a feature in Forbes, which reaches over 150 million readers globally. That exposure sparked widespread media attention, expanding his influence well beyond the stage.

As he prepares to step onto the Sumfest stage, Terence Wallen stands tall as a torchbearer of reggae’s golden era—bringing timeless classics to life and ensuring legends like Gregory Isaacs are never forgotten.
