Produced by Kareem “Remus” Burrell of XTM.Nation, the track is built around a sample from the 1994 classic “Good Life” by the late, great Cocoa Tea. The original was produced by Kareem’s father, Philip “Fatis” Burrell, the legendary founder of Xterminator Productions; a production house credited with nurturing some of the most important voices in roots reggae.

With both Cocoa Tea and Fatis now passed on, “You + Me = Good Life” becomes more than a love song. It stands as a joyful celebration of legacy and a tribute to the pioneers who helped shape its sound. “This song speaks to the power of togetherness,” said a statement from Riley’s team. “It’s about how we complement each other in relationships. It’s a celebration of real love.”

“You + Me = Good Life” delivers all the hallmarks fans have come to expect from Tarrus Riley smooth vocals, conscious lyrics, and timeless melodies, but this time with an added layer of homage and nostalgia. The track perfectly blends vintage reggae vibes with a modern romantic sensibility, creating a bridge between past and present.

The official music video, directed by Sameel “Samo Kush I” Johnson, was filmed on location in St. Thomas, Jamaica. It visually amplifies the song’s message, capturing Riley and a radiant Black model walking hand-in-hand along Jamaica’s serene shores. The imagery is rich with warmth and simplicity, echoing the song’s themes of authentic love and natural island beauty.

Tarrus Riley, son of late reggae singer Jimmy Riley, has long embraced both his musical lineage and his role in carrying the genre forward. With hits like “She’s Royal,” “Lighter” (with Shenseea), and “Gimme Likkle One Drop,” Riley continues to be one of the most consistent voices in modern reggae. His ability to merge traditional sounds with contemporary style has earned him a global following and solidified his place in reggae’s evolving narrative.

“You + Me = Good Life” is yet another reminder of his unique ability to keep reggae music both relevant and reverent. Riley’s latest release feels like a timely anthem. It celebrates love and unity, making it a must-listen for fans near and far.
